Welcome beautiful soul, I am so glad you’re here.

Salt & Sage HCC is a compassionate online therapy space designed to help you rediscover yourself and empower you to regain balance, build resilience, and move forward with confidence.

Hi, I’m Lauren. It’s nice to meet you.

My name is Lauren Stevens and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC) and Reiki Master in Akron, Ohio. I am 100% telehealth based. My lens is an integrative blend of holistic practice and a trauma informed systems theory framework which guides my approach to healing. I am passionate about working with women, typically ranging in ages and stages of life, who are struggling with anxiety, depression, or trauma and feel as though they’ve lost touch with themselves. You are not alone, and I know that you never pictured being here. Let us find your footing and regain some confidence for the journey ahead. You are a warrior, I know you can do this. We are all given gifts and struggles within this chaotic and beautiful life. I’d be honored to help you reconnect with your genuine self and release your mental and emotional burdens. Many who have trained and worked with me, whether as a client, or peer, have described my approach as warm, authentic, and eclectic. My favorite client reflection has been “you feel like a human to me and help me connect with my genuine self in a safe and empowered way.” I utilize a mixture of insight based and trauma informed methods including EMDR and IFS as well as humanistic and person-centered methods with a tinch of humor to aid you in achieving your goals. Authenticity and transparency are key elements in therapeutic interactions and relationship building. I believe in compassionate support, empowered self-discovery, and a gentle yet assertive nudge when needed. We are both, our own worst enemy and our most powerful gladiator. This is not a journey that you have to walk alone. This is a space where we will laugh and cry. I am here for it all, sweet soul. Let us travel this path together.

Philosophy and Approach

Physical

The Physical body, otherwise known as what you see in the mirror, is represented by your physical appearance.

The four bodies and holistic wellbeing

Mental

This body, the Mind, is where your thought trains exist. Our thoughts, judgements, general internal and external narratives.

Emotional

Spiritual

This body allows us to connect with God, The Divine, and our higher self. It is what keeps and allows us to experience our interconnectedness to all things.

Typically, the least developed of the four bodies. This is the space your feelings exist. It is where our capacity to empathize, love, and hate is held.

Lasting change occurs when the entire person is supported, heard, and seen. A holistic approach attends to all the layers of an individual instead of selectively addressing pieces of person.

What are people saying? Spill it!

“Lauren felt like a real person. She wasn’t stiff or unrelatable like other therapists I had seen before. It felt like she showed up as herself which helped me to do the same.”

“My issues became digestible. Manageable. I’d bring these things to session that felt huge and by the end of the hour I felt like I could wrap my mind around them and move forward.”

“ I felt seen and emotionally held. Motherhood is a time where much of what you do and feel seems invisible. She heard me, even when I didn’t really say much at all.”

— Former Clients

Level with me, sweet soul.

What makes Salt & Sage HCC different from other providers?

My approach within services takes into account the landscape of your life. I make an intentional merging of holistic and system practices. So, what does this mean, I am looking at you and your successes and struggles through a systemic lens which allows me to understand aspects of your family, your social circles and other life influences. It provides a broader and larger context in which to understand you and where you find yourself. It allows me to better understand and factor in the potential influences both within and outside of yourself that have brought you to your current standing. Additionally, a holistic approach allows us to step outside of just mental health and assess how your physical and spiritual bodies may be working with or against your mental and emotional bodies. I assess the whole you, all four bodies (Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual). It is not until we have an understanding of how all of our bodies work in unison that we can be present and happy as our authentic self.

How does this work?

We will explore aspects of your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health in session. I will aid you in exploring what within those realms of life is healthy, balanced, and supportive to you. Additionally, we will assess and address what is out of alignment and needs compassionate adjustment and accountability. We will meet either weekly or biweekly via a virtual link. We will collaboratively determine your goals and the necessary steps forward. I will provide resources and referrals for any additional services necessary for you to achieve these goals. I am a firm believer in building what I call a “deeper bench” which essentially means building out your toolbox. I will support you in navigating this foundational and necessary step in your healing journey.

What can I expect and how long does all this take?

I am so glad you asked. Therapy is a marathon, not a sprint. Healing is a journey, not a destination. Lauren, please just level with me! Alright, here we go - You can expect that I will show up with the intention to address your goals and hold the space needed to address anything that is occurring in your current headspace, how it is connected to any relevant past events or concerns and how this could be helping or hurting you as you move forward. We’re addressing a serious puzzle, and the placement of the pieces is key. Depending on how heavy your suitcase is upon arrival, will depend on how long it takes us to unpack it, organize it, and then determine what we’re keeping and letting go of. I am not a provider who does band aid work or quick fixes. We will do our fair share of coping skills, brainstorming and critical thinking but this is a commitment, I will not lie to you. I will, however, promise that this space will always be one that is kept in compassionate intentionality for your safety, autonomy, beautiful capacity for growth, and needed pace for said growth to occur organically. No one blossoms on a pressured timeline. I don’t believe in cannon ball therapy. Surprises are plentiful in our world already. Therapy is not a place, in my opinion, where surprises should exist. Now, epiphanies and growth can sometimes feel like a surprise. That said, I promise, I am here to walk every thought through the track with you. You will see improvements. Those improvements largely depend on your own commitment and intentionality. You are required to be an active participant in this process. This is a team lift and I’m happy to put my metaphorical back into it.
